The city
Bilming prospers and does not share. New cranes, new rail, new façades — and on the same block, contracts that shorten, rents that climb, and trades that vanish without notice. Industrialisation did not unseat the aristocracy: it bought shares.
Yomend Steps, called simply The Steps by the people who live there, is the low strip of the waterfront: dockhands, railway workers, workshops, boarding houses, gambling rooms, and families who have been there for generations. Above the slope, the high steps watch. What is decided up there arrives down here as an eviction, as construction, as an offer that cannot be refused.
This campaign is not about saving the world. It is about what you do when the world has an owner, and the price of staying where you are climbs every month.
